Blue Elephant
Formerly home to the Chinese Chamber of Commerce,
the restaurant is housed in a century old building where European
architecture and style is exceptionally pronounced. The décor is
exotically tropical, giving the feel of a colonial lifestyle.
The ground floor is sectioned with the right being traditional low Thai
tables with cushions on the floor and to the left, Western style tables.
The restaurant offers scrumptious Thai food and also has a cookery
school.
The menu of the restaurant is a blend of tradition
and novelties with a wide array of choices. The delicacies on offer are
aplenty, we opted for two starters; ‘black pepper scallops’ and Thai
fish cakes’, however, the set menu could be good for first timers to get
a taste of various selections in tapas style portions. The traditional
‘massaman lamb curry’ served with New Zealand lamb in a medium spiced
rich sauce is so tender that it falls apart in the mouth. For dessert
try the ‘kluay khai cheuam’, banana in perfumed syrup served with
coconut ice-cream.
A guaranteed soothing ambiance and delicious food
awaits you at the Blue Elephant restaurant.
