Lok Wah Hin
The latest outlet to receive a major overhaul and facelift is Lok Wah Hin at the Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square. Having recently renovated their International buffet restaurant The Square, and having done it beautifully, the next on the list was their Chinese restaurant. According to Novotel, it’s not just a new ambiance, new chef or new menu; the whole pretext of the term Chinese Restaurant has been re-invented.
Inspired by scenes from provincial China, there is a stone floor complemented by bamboo lighting and an arched entry bridge, all aimed at simulating the idyllic harmony and tradition of Chinese village life. Red lanterns hang overhead, and teakwood eaves line the walls.
The food is of course as good as always. Having been in the business of serving Chinese food for the last 16 years, and won numerous awards and accolades, the team here certainly knows what they’re doing. Joined recently by Hong Kong Master Chef Chan they seem poised to go a step further, despite still having extremely affordable prices. Lok Wah Hin is open lunch and dinner for either A La Carte or Set Menu’s, and there is also an excellent all-you-can-eat Dim Sum lunch menu.
