Shang Palace
Entering through a golden archway guests are
greeted by a giant “Happy Buddha”. The setting is like an elegant
Chinese teahouse with stunning red and gold furnishings that enhance the
classic Chinese rosewood furnishings. Rich artwork, fine wood carvings
and calligraphy contribute to the ambiance. The main dining room is
surrounded by a network of private function rooms. The cuisine is
authentic Cantonese prepared by master chefs from Hong Kong in a
specially equipted kitchen with special Chinese ovens to cook barbecued
meats and smoked dishes.
The ideal way to enjoy Chinese cuisine is banquet-style
with a steady flow of dishes on being served after another. Our started
with a flow of Dim Sum including Quailing spring rolls filled with
minced prawn and coated on the outside with sesame seeds. This was
followed by Mantis prawns backed with spicy salt and then very crunchy
braised melon filled with minced shrimp topped with crab meal and crab
roe.
The
service is formal and efficient Chinese gastronomy fit for an Emperor.
