That's Entertainment

If it gets any hotter in April than it was in March we might just see a hose pipe ban come the middle of the month, after all in England if doesn't rain for more than a week there's an immediate water crisis. God knows how Thames Water would deal with a Bangkok summer and a million litres of water being chucked around all in the name of sanook, it certainly makes you wonder.

Anyway I don't know about you but it does seem to be hotter this year or maybe it's just the extra pounds I've piled on after the excesses of covering Bangkok's entertainment venues.

In fact it's a bit of luck the country is going to be immersing itself in water for days as the inbox for this months entertainment events is positively dire, still I suppose the mass migration out of Bangkok during this month doesn't inspire too many entertainment providers.

Personally speaking I can't see the attraction of spending 10 hours in traffic trying to get somewhere heaving with tourists and would rather stay in the capital and take full advantage of a near traffic devoid Sukhumvit Road.

One great venue to welcome in the Thai New Year is ChampagneS at the Dusit Thani Hotel and during April they will be featuring Henkell Trockle sparkling wines, served together with their exquisite canapés so you're guaranteed a fine evening.

Upstairs at My Bar a tropical tradition is on offer with Ice wine and sweet mango which is a perfect tonic to counterbalance the sizzling heat outside.

At Bed you can warm up for Songkran on April 12th with Gilles Peterson the BBC Radio One DJ who is back in Bangkok and playing exclusively for Bed. Tickets cost 1000Baht and include two drinks, ID is always a must on any night.

For fans of fruity concoctions without the liquor you can head for the Fortune Bangkok where they kick off summer with 'Summer Flare' a collection of elegant fruit cocktails including, Passion Fruit, Longan, and Red Grenadine.

And if these offerings don't take your fancy then we'll see you at Khao San during the holiday for a good old fashioned water fight so don't forget your bucket.
