Saluting the WINNERS!
All of the 42 establishments participating in Bangkok Best Dining & Entertainment Awards 2007 are each winning successful restaurants. Nevertheless, to rise above the rest in being 'The Winner' within each of the categories requires that unique X-factor. There is no magic formula, rather it is the amalgamation of multiple factors comprising of food, wine, ambiance, service, location and a sense that every customer leaves with a feeling that the price paid was value for money. It is only when all these elements are in synergy, balanced with the seamless precision of a Swiss watch that the restaurant will be a winner.
To salute the winners within the 14 categories we went to meet with the key person responsible for each of the venues to discover how their concepts were conceived plus ideas nurtured through to fruition. If the inspiration were coming from overseas, it is essential in knowing to what extent if any did modification have to be made to the original thought in suiting the tastes of the local market. Having built the product, how did they deliver it to their patrons in a way that excites and exceeds their expectations. Finally, how these venues retain customer loyalty and are profitable at the same time.
Dining is more than just about the food, it is the totality of the experience; how we feel both during and after the meal. Did the lighting set the right mood yet were specific guest needs sufficiently thought through? Did the ambient temperature feel comfortable? Was the music in keeping with guest expectations? Most importantly did the front of house service match the quality of the food they served? What does it take to claim the prize and to be a winner?
