Diet Astrology! Riding the road to a healthy you with food and herbs relevant to your Zodiac Sign.

Your savor and penchant towards a particular type of food is largely dominated by the inherent needs of your body, yet again, dependant on your astrological composition. Each sign has its own tissue salt. The supposition is that we use up more of our zodiac mineral salt than any other, and it is suggested that we eat foods that contain this mineral in abundance. Find out what food will nourish, heal and tickle your palate.

Aries: Usually busy, active both mentally and physically, Aries face high stress and challenges and are constantly in combat mode. They need a well-balanced diet to maintain good health and energy. The tissue salt for Aries is phosphate of potassium, hence a diet rich in this salt will prevent ailments like raging fevers, acute headaches and stress-related problems. This mineral builds brain cells and replenishes the liver, and replenishes the Arian reserves of energy.

Eat beetroot, radishes, grapes, tomatoes, beans, brown rice, lentils, walnuts, olives, onions, lettuce, cauliflower, cucumber, spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts, figs, bananas, dried uncooked apricots and pumpkin. Tip: Salt and liquor are two enemies that Aries should avoid in particular.

Taurus: Lovers of good things in life, Taureans love fatty and rich foods .Their luxurious and indolent lifestyle and lack of interest in physical exercise make them overweight and victims of health problems. The tissue salt for Taurus is sulphate of soda. An imbalance of this mineral in the body can cause bloating, symptoms of congestion around the thyroid gland, and a feeling of waterlogging. Hence eating a diet rich in this salt will prevent all these problems.

Eat asparagus, beets, cauliflower, wheat germ, spinach, cucumber, onions, pumpkin, raw nuts and berries, eggs, liver, kidney beans, fresh fruit and green salads. Celery can help clear the system after over indulgence. Taureans should eat food with natural iodine, such as fish and seafood. Tip: Eat light food and drink lots of water to flush out toxins.

Gemini: High-strung, excitable and mentally hyperactive people, Geminis need a diet which makes them relax, gives energy and soothes their frayed nerves. The tissue salt for Gemini is potassium chloride. A deficiency of this mineral can lead to clots in the blood and circulatory problems. Potassium chloride also keeps the lungs and bronchial tubes unclogged.

Eat asparagus, green beans, tomatoes, celery, carrots, spinach, oranges, peaches, plums, apricots, wild rice, lemons, cucumber, pineapple and celery. Healthy nerve foods for Gemini include grapefruit, almonds, broiled fish and shellfish, grape juice, apples and raisins. Lettuce and cauliflower help to combat bronchitis. Tip: Practice deep breathing and chew your food properly.

Cancer: These sensitive and emotional people and prone to emotional stress and anxiety leading to various kinds of ailments related to the stomach and digestive system. Inclination towards alcohol further aggravates the problems. This is one sign which can actually get healed by the right kind of diet. The tissue salt for Cancer is calcium fluoride. Deficiency of this mineral can cause varicose veins, receding gums, curvature of the spine and eye problems

Eat egg yolks, whole grains, rye, yoghurt, beet, watercress, fish and oysters. You are prone to skin disorders when there is a lack of calcium in your diet. You should consume milk, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes, which are high in calcium. Tip: Starches, sugar and salt in excess should be avoided.

Leo: These proud, majestic and courageous people consider themselves unbreakable and hence make huge demands on their system. They push themselves hard and as a result, suffer from overexertion and strain. The tissue salt for Leo is magnesium phosphate. It forms blood albumen and maintains the fluidity of the blood, and activates the digestive enzymes. Deficiency can cause heart problems, blood pressure and stress.

Eat whole wheat and rye products, almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, figs, lemons, apples, peaches, coconut, rice, seafood, beets, asparagus and egg yolks. Foods that aid circulation and have blood-making properties include lamb, poultry, liver, fresh fruit, salad greens, cheese, whole milk and yoghurt. Tip: Low-cholesterol foods and foods rich in iron, such as spinach, raisins and dates, are also recommended for Leo.

Virgo: Worrisome and finicky, Virgos can literally worry themselves sick. When things go wrong, they have a tendency to turn the trouble onto themselves and the problem is instantly reflected in a physical ailment. They need a diet which gives them strong immunity and resistance to disease. The tissue salt for Virgo is potassium sulphate. This mineral keeps the skin pores unclogged and ventilated, and the endocrine system in order. Lack of potassium sulphate in the diet can cause dandruff, hair loss, eczema, acne and dry, flaky skin and hair. A deficiency may also lead to extreme fatigue and constipation

Eat green leafy vegetables, whole wheat and whole grain breads, wheat germ oil, oats, almonds, cheese, oranges, bananas, lemons, lean beef and lamb, parsnips, apples, cabbage and cucumber. Healthy foods that are easy to digest are corn bread, yoghurt, brown rice, eggs, and cottage cheese. Tip: Eat fresh unprocessed food
