Bob Color

More than 17 years Bob Color has been touring Europe with his band. He released 6 CD's with his own songs, did at least 25 TV-shows in 5 countries and gave more than 2000 concerts (about 400 festivals). The Bob Color Band was support-act to top-names like Red Hot Chilly Peppers, Pretenders, Kinks and soul-legends Junior Walker, Eddie Floyd and Percy Sledge. Bob also participated in 2 theatre-shows for children and jumped around in front of a ska-band. In the European winter months (December, January, February and March) he comes with his family to Thailand to blow of steam and sing his all-time favourites.

Especially for Thailand Bob started his 'So-Low-Can-You-Go-Solo-Show': A One-Man-Show with silly dances & funny moves. Musically it is a mix of many styles: Soul, funk, blues, jive, ska, eighties-wave, seventies-rock, sixties-beat… and some nineties (like Nickelback, Greenday, and Robbie Williams), all well-known songs with a few ballads, but mostly up-tempo 'feel-good-music'.

Bob uses backing-tracks. No sterile midi-files but real studio-recordings with real horns and drums! He works with 200 tracks (In total up to 8 hours). This means that Bob picks his set depending on the situation and the mood of the audience. The choice can be a mix of everything. Or in a place with real 'concert-audience' he picks only the more obscure. Or for a party it would be a set of pounding up-tempo dance-floor fillers. More than enough variety! Hits, but not the same short list as the regular bar-bands play, Bob chooses songs that everybody recognises with an ' Oh yeah '... not with a 'Not that one again'. And to ensure the interaction with the audience, presentation is 50 % of the act. Constant movement on stage or in the audience, on balcony's or what other possibilities the location offers... a madman with a wireless microphone.

Till the Tsunami he worked on Phuket, mostly five shows a week in places like Holiday Inn, Sheraton Laguna and Aman Puri. Apart from hotel performances he did a lot of beach parties, fool moon parties and also performed on the Bikers-Week Phuket. Since three years he also performs on the island he first ever visited in Thailand: Koh Samui. Here he has done his shows in Rockpub, Full Circle, Secret Garden and Bikers & Rockers. After the Tsunami he mainly performed on Koh Samui with some gigs on Phuket in the Meridien, Novotel, Amanpuri, Sheraton Grande, Holiday Inn, Jazzmatazz, Katjoksee and in different bars and restaurants.

He has four specials to enjoy, being; Bob Color's Blues Brothers Sixties Soul Show with songs like 'Shake Your Tail Feather' and 'Gimme Some Lovin'; From Sixties Beat To Seventies Rock Show including Joe Cocker, The Monkees, Rolling Stones and many more; Joe Cocker Special with songs like 'Unchain my Heart', 'With a Little Help From my Friends', 'You Can Leave your Head On' and name them all. Last but not least the Bob Color Living Jukebox Show, here the audience chooses the songs! On every table there is a list of 150 songs and some fill-in-forms... Everybody can pick their favourites! The repertoire is a mix of almost every possible music-style. Pop, reggae, soul, rock, blues... from sixties, thru seventies into the eighties. If that isn't fun, I don't know!

This month you can enjoy his shows here on Samui on Tuesdays in The Green Bottle on Chaweng Beach Road in South Chaweng, Wednesdays in The Billabong in Fisherman's Village, Thursdays in Morning Glory in Maenam and Fridays in Sloaney’s in Bang Rak. Kick off time is 9 pm. Go with a group or simply mingle with the rest of the audience, you'll have fun for sure! Enjoy!
