Rotary Club of Koh Samui
Rotary Club of Koh Samui rescues Santa;
The Rotary Club of Koh Samui jumped into action early Christmas morning to not only help Santa, but to save Christmas for the children at Nathon Hospital as well. Early Christmas morning Santa was just arriving on Samui to deliver his gifts to the children when he became "ill". Santa was scheduled to deliver gifts and candy to the Nathon Hospitals youngest patients at 9:00 am. With Santa out of action it appeared the children would miss their Christmas!
The Rotary Club learned of Santa's condition and summoned several of Santa's helpers and a medical elf from the North Pole to take care of Santa. The elf doctor examined Santa and reported it appeared the illness was from something Santa drank on Christmas Eve! The doctor immediately prescribed a cold shower; a lot of very strong coffee; and ordered the helpers to get Santa on his feet and walk him around the room. The doctor reported Santa would be fine in a few hours; but what about the children at Nathon Hospital!?!?
Rotary Past President Paul Hawkins and his wife Khun Sim immediately went to Santa's sleigh and found the toys and candy for the children at the Nathon hospital. Khun Sim quietly went to Rudolf, the lead reindeer, and explained the problem. Without hesitation Rudolf and the other reindeer took Paul and Sim to the Nathon Hospital. Paul & Sim explained the situation to the hospital's deputy director, Dr. Jirawan. Dr. Jirawan offered to send an ambulance for Santa and provide a bed for him in the detox ward but she was assured by Khun Sim that Santa was in good hands.
Paul & Sim made the rounds at the hospital visiting 21 young patients and giving gifts and candy sponsored by the Rotary Club of Koh Samui. In addition to the young hospital patients, every child at the hospital on Christmas morning was given several pieces of candy.
The moral of this story; while you enjoy the holidays and partake of the holiday "spirits", do not loose sight of your responsibilities and the example you set for others...especially the children.
Christmas is for KIDS, New Year's Eve is for the ADULTS.
