Samuiscape
Samui is famous for its tropical weather, white beaches and blue waters; the perfect setting for all beach lovers amongst you. But apart from beaches, Samui has a lot more to offer which makes your holiday even more attractive and memorable. If you want to get of the beach one day, let the body have some action and experience the feel of the hinterlands of Samui, Bophut Hills Golf Club offers you these ingredients. Conveniently located in the heart of Bophut, just of the ring road towards the mountains, this brand new 9 holes – par 3 golf course has that magic island type scenery.
Arriving at the club one of the first things you will notice is that the clubhouse is well situated; from the front you can easily see all the holes. Before entering the green we first arrange our clubs, scorecard and caddies at the pro shop. The quality of Callaway and Taylor Made clubs, gloves, balls and other rental equipment we need for playing is of a good standard. After teeing of the first three holes our first impression is that the tee’s are well groomed and fairly leveled. The equipment used for the green keeping is definitely professional.
The aprons of the greens are well kept and good for testing chipping abilities. The greens itself are of a good standard; neatly cut, the holes have plenty of nap and medium pace on most of them. The first meeting with the bunkers tells us that they have a great under footing; the sand is nice and can be defined as excellent for bunker practice. The course layout is beautiful shaped and is certainly not like a walk in the park; plenty of elevation which not only creates a beautiful setting but also a challenging game. It is great to test a golfers ability to hit from a full to a medium short shot, therefore it is the perfect practice for your short game, judging distances (which by the way is a common golf mistake) and can improve your golf handicap by at least 2 to 4 shots if you play regularly.
After playing 9 holes we take a seat in the clubhouse for an ice cold beer and discuss our afternoon game to increase our score. The bar in the clubhouse is well stocked and the kitchen serves good quality food, from breakfast to dinner. Even if you only come for a beer and just practice your putting on the next to the clubhouse, this is the perfect place to spent the afternoon (or morning if you wish). And last but not least, the caddies are friendly and above all very helpful, as well as the bar staff.
If you have played the course and want to cool down and have some fun; try the Water Ball. This is great fun and completely safe for all ages, 220 meters down the hill in a big ball with a couple of buckets of water in it. If that doesn’t cool you down!
For reservations please call Bophut Hills Golf Club at 08 7267 1042. Enjoy!
