Out For a Beer
Now the high season comes again, and the streets are filled with wide eyed and fat walleted tourists of all persuasions. This is a good time for the OFAB crew since we are nigh on invisible in Pattaya's night. What a pleasure it is to be ignored by all and sundry, until that happy day in April when all the tourists go home. Then one lady drink could mean the difference between a hot bowl of noodles and an empty stomach. The OFABers will reign once more. But for now, the invisible OFAB team hits the November streets.
Excuse the introduction, but a good sampling of Pattaya's new and upcoming venues always leaves me waxing a bit poetic. Since everything leaves me waxing hungry, we started off this journey at the newly opened Great American Rib Company on Thepprasit Road. This place is famous for its delicious BBQ venues in Bangkok and Hua Hin and now we are lucky enough to have one in Pattaya. The Rib Company is set up with nice décor and excellent and spacious seating both inside and outside. The service ladies were lovely, and seemed to be taking to their training fast. At least they were very good at figuring out when we needed more Margaritas. Two flavors here, both delicious and in nice sized pitchers. We went for the giant barbecue plate which had some incredible pulled pork, delicious BBQ ribs and loads of other mouth watering meats that left us bloated, and ready to loosen our belts and head into town. The music here is also excellent, pumped in by internet radio from the States. It seems like a very good band will also be making an appearance soon, so don't skip this place for a great lunch or dinner or even some excellent Blues and Margaritas, which of course go together very well!
Next stop South Pattaya Walking Street (where else?) and the Roof Top Bar – located just before the police box, up some stairs and all the way in the back of a new and scenic 2nd level beer bar complex. Now if those directions weren't enough to get you lost, then you deserve the good time to be had on the Roof Top. This is an outdoor beer bar /pool club/pub style venue with lovely reception ladies and the OFAB knockouts of the year taking a soapy bath together in one of those rubber wading pools. There was even a Coyote type dancer with a camera taking pictures of all and sundry, I guess for advertising purposes – not something we thought about when posing for some incriminating photos with the lasses. Roof Top has an excellent view of the entire Pattaya Bay and with lovely ladies on one side and nature calling on the other this place can't be beat for scenery. We were oh so tempted to jump in the pool, but the thought of explaining soapy underwear to our better halves at home kept us high and dry. Try Roof Top for a little bit of just about everything good.
Over we trundled to the other side of the Walking Street and the X-Zone Bar (Soi 16). X-Zone is a relatively new, but wildly popular a-go-go located in the same complex as Club Boesche and Cats. To get to X-Zone we needed to hike to the 2nd floor (an event for us). Inside were shows of the garden style a-go-go variety as well as a nice soapy tub for cleanliness and good health. The bathers didn't seem to mind a bit of extra attention either. The staff here are exceedingly friendly and it didn't appear that any one would ever need to spend the evening alone. No cold, hard-hearted mistresses of the night in the X-Zone. We thoroughly appreciated the fact that even though there were oogles and ogles of tourists about, the OFAB crew still rated a “Hello, How are you? This from one of the prettiest lasses on the joint, no less. Too bad it was while she was running from one apparently wealthier punter to another. Oh well, we'll still be here in May. X-Zone is one of the top new clubs in town and worth a visit for sure!
Just downstairs from the X-Zone is the Taboo A-Go-Go. Knowing this was our last stop we pulled out all stops and invited some of the very sexy and extremely lovely Taboo Coyote dancers over to join us for unlimited ladies drinks, and an exciting (for us anyway) end to the evening. Taboo's Coyote crew is just about the best in town and we were not disappointed at all with their ability to make Tequila and green, blue and red notes disappear. Believe it or not we even met a native denizen of Pattaya – now where do you ever see that in Pattaya. The fact that this lovely young lady wasn't even born when some of the OFAB crew arrived here didn't put us off our vodka sodas even a bit. Taboo has decent music at a reasonable volume and looks to be the next in-place for the tourist crowd and quite a few locals too. We will definitely give the Taboo Coyote dancers the new OFAB "Coyote Crew of the Month" award for November. That makes Taboo a great place to go Out for a Beer!
