Out For a Beer

As you may have already heard, this has been a challenging year for many entertainment venues as the number of venues available versus the actual amount of tourists that came this year seems to be slightly out of proportion at least in terms of being able to show a decent profit if you are an owner of a venue in Pattaya. However, the real fact of the matter and the good news for customers it that there are so many great options especially for the single gut that it's hard to make up your mind on what section to start on any given night. A few nights ago I breezed on down by myself, to the Hot and Cold A Go Go on Soi Yamato for example.

I figured I would just stay for a couple of beers and call it an early night. I started at 4PM and didn't get out until 3 AM in the morning. Everyone really seemed to be having a good time and the girls, I suppose partly due to the lean low season really work harder to make a fun time of it for sure, if you want to call it hard work. Stop on down and say hello to Ooy the Owner.

A few days after that a few of the OFAB Crew stopped across the street at Tim's Bar. We were really the only people there at 8:30 but like the previous night before the girls were extremely energetic. Of course most of us old timers know Tim's is also well known for great music DVD's as well as fun ladies and reasonable drinks.

Being in the heart of the city is a nice plus as well. We decided to keep things a bit low key on this night as one of our OFAB's had his girlfriend with him. Actually, this is not accepted with "the crew" under normal circumstances but on this particular evening he and consequentially the rest of our crew had little choice.

The funny thing is, she was a real sport and wanted to go down to Walking Street so we did but did not take her out to those places she might find her partner in on any given night she was playing Detective. We decided to stop in at Kilkenny's. I forgot what a great place it is.

When we were there, there was a party in play and we were made more than welcome. Andy the Manager there is one of the friendliest people you could ever meet and with great food and live music, it ranks as one of the best places on Walking Street especially if you are married or have a significant other. Incidentally, they have a great Thai menu as well.

Congratulations to Alan the new Owner of The Bristol Music Bar on Soi 6 in Jomtien. For those of you who may not see their advert on TV like myself, they run a great Sunday jam session to help the kids down in Rayong who have contacted HIV, many through their parents. Both the previous, Owner Allistair and Alan, as part of the deal they made with themselves, both unselfishly gave 25,000 Baht from the deal to the kids. Great job guys!

Stop down on Sunday if you play an instrument or just want to listen. Shenanigans has recently moved to a bigger and better location across the street from the old location. Shenanigans has long been respected as one of the best eateries and watering holes in Pattaya. Stop on by and check them out. Bar Owners - if you'd like your bar to be presented in this column give us a call at 081- 801-3724 and we'll stop on by for some info. Cheers.
